Is your toilet running even after you’ve been away from it for some time? Do you have clogs that keep coming back? Have you noticed wet spots around the base of your toilet and you know that no one is “missing the mark”? If so, these are all signs that your toilet might need repairs. While you might think it's a great idea to DIY your toilet repairs, most people end up regretting that decision in the end. At Blue Owl Plumbing, our plumbers have the experience and training necessary to successfully fix your toilets while also looking out for underlying, more detrimental plumbing issues.

Common Toilet Problems

Toilets in homes will break down or have arising issues more often than you'd think, especially when they are used multiple times a day. There are repairs that are harder to notice, and some that are very easy to notice. No matter what, it’s important to know what can go wrong with your toilet . Some common problems that will require professional repair include:

Clogged toilets. A complete or partial clog will block water from being able to flush down as it normally should. This can happen from a blocked pipe or even flushing items down the toilet that should not be flushed.

Toilet leaks. The tank attached to your toilet holds water that is released into the bowl when you flush it. Occasionally, the water can leak into the water bowl and directly down the drain, causing you to waste gallons of water if left unnoticed.

Damaged fill tube. If the plastic hose responsible for sending water back into the toilet tank after you flush it becomes damaged or unclipped, the valve will shut off the flow of water. This leaves you with a potential overflow problem.

Damaged fill valve. This valve is in charge of making sure the water tank of your toilet is refilled after every flush. If this valve is damaged, you will notice a difference in the water level in your bowl.

Cracked toilet bowl. If you see water pooling around the bottom of your toilet bowl on the floor, it’s likely you have a cracked bowl. The water levels in the bowl will also be much lower and you might notice an increase in your water bill if this goes unfixed for some time.

Toilet movement. As many people know, the toilet itself should never be moving around and should remain sturdy in one place. If your toilet bowl is moving, then it means it is not resting properly on the floor and will need to be fixed before further damages occur.
